Your CommissionAs citizens of your community, the members of the Waterford Township Environmental Commission have created this page in order to greater serve you, the residents of Waterford. Our meetings are held on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 7:30 in the Municipal Building. All Township residents are more than welcome to attend these meetings.
Our MissionIt is the duty of the Environmental Commission to be a functioning unit of municipal government to promote the conservation and development of the municipality's natural resources. To be responsible for providing the impetus and taking the leadership in natural resources planning at a local level where no organized effort towards those ends has been noticeable in the past. NJSA, 40:56. An Environmental Commissioner must be a jack of all trades. . . . is expected to immediately find answers to problems which have been decades in developing. . . . be able to successfully work with a host of people and organizations with different agendas. . . . to battle for each minor victory. . . . all for the privelege of receiving 'no compensation' for service. . . . And yet each tree saved from destruction by a builder, each septic tank stopped from overflowing, each new drain and each home built using proper soil conservation techniques is a major victory, for all of the citizens. . . .
